The Fuji Kawaguchiko Cherry Blossom Festival is the highlight of the spring season in the Fuji Five Lakes region. Hundreds of Somei Yoshino cherry trees line the northern shore of the lake, creating a vibrant pink frame for the snow-capped peak of Mount Fuji.
Main Festival Location
The heart of the festival is the Lake Kawaguchi North Shore Walking Trail. This 1.2-kilometer path stretches between the Kawaguchiko Music Forest Museum and the entrance to Oishi Park.
- Food Stalls: Local vendors offer seasonal treats like sakura mochi and hot amazake.
- Craft Market: Browse handmade Japanese goods and souvenirs.
- Evening Illumination: The trees are lit up from sunset until 9:00 PM, creating a romantic atmosphere after dark.
Best Photography Spots
Ubuyagasaki Peninsula
The classic "Fuji + Bridge + Sakura" shot. This outcrop offers a perfect angle of the Kawaguchiko Ohashi Bridge.
Nagasaki Park
A quieter alternative where cherry trees lean over the water, providing excellent reflection opportunities.
Chureito Pagoda
A 15-minute train ride away takes you to the most famous "pagoda + sakura + Fuji" shot in all of Japan.
💡 Traveler Tip: Avoid the Mid-Day Heat
Cherry blossom season attracts massive crowds. To get the best photos and avoid the 11:00 AM — 3:00 PM rush, aim to arrive by 8:00 AM. The air is clearer, and the light is much softer for photography.
